Getting your business listed on Google is easy and free. However, don't be confused with SEO. This does not guarantee that your business will always show up in the first position on Google.com when someone searches for your business (If you want help with that, contact me). There's a big difference between branded and non-branded keywords.
Google My Business is a free service from Google that allows your customers to find your business when they're using Google Search or Google Maps. The first step is claiming your business. Click on the link above and sign up. Then Google will send you a postcard in the mail. You will need the code on that postcard to complete the sign up process. After that, your business will show up on the right side of the page with all the information that you tell Google to include such as your hours of operations, website, phone number, website, and images.
How to Get Your Small Business on Google's Map
One of the main goals of SEO is to get maximum site visibility and site traffic through page ranking. Achieving the optimal site visibility improves site traffic, a necessary component at boosting revenue generation for site owners.
This ability to boost revenue generation is the reason why small business owners, like you, flock towards SEO. It’s cheaper and more effective than the run-of-the-mill flyer advertising. However, getting the top page rank isn’t the only way to get maximum visibility and site traffic.
GET ON GOOGLE MAPS
Getting on Google Maps is another great way to achieve maximum visibility and site traffic while boosting your SEO at the same time.
When you’re searching on Google, you might find a little area on the side of the results page. What used to be Google’s white space is now a business information box, complete with the name, the address, the operating hours, the contact numbers, the rating, the reviews, and even the history of the shop.
This is not only attention-grabbing; it also potentially attracts the right customers thanks to the quick info box that provides every information they might need about the business.
Now just imagine that business info on Google’s white space is yours.

HOW TO GET VERIFIED ON GOOGLE MAPS
If you’ve been running your small business for some time, chances are Google My Business has already your business information in its directory and all that’s left to do is to claim it.
The first thing to do is to head over Google My Business and click on the ‘Get on Google’ Button. Next, type in your business name and address in the search box located in the upper left corner of your screen.
If your business is already in the Google My Business directory, the suggested matches function will pop up, otherwise a dropdown box will prompt you that it cannot find your business name and provides the ‘Let me enter the full business details’ button. Click on it and make sure to properly fill in the information required.
Make sure to be precise about the categories since Google will now try to match your business to relevant category searches.
Last but not the least is the verification process. Usually PINs are sent through postcard to verify business location. Select businesses can have their business information verified through phone or Instant Verification, depending on the discretion of Google My Business.
